Marie Walton-Mahon Dance Academy is looking for a passionate RAD qualified teacher with experience working with students from Tiny Tots through to Advanced 2. The position requires a Saturday commitment and flexibility during the week.

The successful applicant may also have the opportunity to choreograph and have private students. Interested applicants should forward a CV to mwmdance@optusnet.com.au by Thursday 1^st December, and be available for interview soon after.

Do you have a business which could use some advertising? The Rose Walton Memorial Benefit Fund is selling space in this year’s program to fund raise for the students of National College of Dance and the Marie Walton-Mahon Dance Academy.

Costing $250 each, ads will be in full colour, portrait style, 1/4 page (A4). Limited spaces available, notify the office of interest.

This year our production consits of Beauty & the Beast, featuring MWM students from Tiny Tots to seniors, and Midsummer’s Dream, featuring MWM Advanced students & National College of Dance.

Congratulations to Diploma student, Simon Jones, who placed in the finals of the prestigious RAD Genee Competition in Capetown, South Africa.

Simon has also been accepted to the Heinz Bosl Stiftung Ballet Academy, Munich, and will begin tuition there in January 2012.

Family Fun Day – Sunday 18 September

Students and their families and friends are invited to join us near the rotunda at Lambton Park from 12.30pm. There will be novelty events, cake stalls, ongoing raffles and the students will receive their class trophies with the Scholarship and Sportsmanship Awards also being announced.Don’t forget to bring your picnic lunch, chairs and camera. NCD Auditions 25 September

We have had a very pleasing number of applicatons for audition for NCD in 2012. The live audition will be held on Sunday 25 September, with a few students unable to attend arranging early audition with the college. Interest is wide ranging, with applications from Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, New Zealand as well as local.

McDonald’s Challege Achievement

Last Sunday’s performance by the National College of Dance Contemporary group was amazing! They have worked so hard, and the hard work and extra rehearsals certainly paid off with the group receiving first place. Huge congratulations to the group and Miss Ellis-Linnert for outstanding choreography.

Finalists, Dann Wilkinson and Lawrence Lambert, gave wonderful performances, and we congratulate both of these young men as well as the creative team who support them. Congratulations Dann for receiving the 2nd scholarship.

SUMMER SCHOOL

Junior (10yrs) to Pre Professional (16+)

After a successful first year as Artistic Director of the National College of Dance and Marie Walton-Mahon Dance Academy, Mr Brett Morgan will head the line up of inspiring teachers for our 2012 Summer Workshop.

The teachers’ program for this Summer Workshop will give each student individual attention required to ensure quality technique while encouraging a strong passion for dance. This workshop is positioned perfectly for the Pre Professional students to prepare for the European Audition period or the Prix de Lausanne, which is held in late January.

Classes include: classical ballet, repertoire, contemporary, body conditioning, jazz, drama/stagecraft and ITP (intensive training private lessons).

McDonald’s Scholarship Finals

Congratulations to NCD Certificate IV students, Lawrence Lambert and Dann Wilkinson, who are finalists in the McDonald’s Scholarship, Sydney Australia. Of the eight finalists, Lawrence and Dann are the only boys who will compete at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 31st July.

Congratulations also go to the NCD Contemporary Group who will also compete in the finals at the Opera House. It promises to be an extremely enjoyable evening.
